Hi All
I am attempting to use my Line6 HX effects tap switch, which sends out midi clock according to foot taps, to the Midihub and into Digital performer to control various sound generator echoes or LFO, etc.
MH shows clock coming in on channel 16. But maybe it is not channelized because it is real time information.
Digital Performer also shows clock information coming in on channel 16.
But tempo synced sounds/applications in Digital Performer [like synthmaster 3] do not respond to the incoming midi clock. Why? What am I doing wrong. I am new to this.
In particular, the ‘SYNC TO PORT MENU’ section - you should send MIDI clocks to, say, USB A Midihub’s output port, and select the first Midihub port (should be named “Midihub MH-… (Port1)” on macOS and “Midihub MH-…” on Windows) as the ‘sync to port’.
So your preset should look like this:
[FROM MIDI X] → [TO USB A]
(X is the input port to which the Line6 HX output is connected)
You may place a Filter pipe to keep only Start, Continue, Stop, Clock messages if you don’t need other kinds of information coming in.
Other kinds of software/devices might have different settings / steps for configuration syncing to external master device.
Sometimes the software/device receiving the sync wants to receive a “Start” or “Continue” message before it would sync to the same provided tempo. The Start message additionally indicates the first beat of a bar to the receiving devices, so they all start their pattern from the same position.
