Connect Mashine plus (Standalone) with hardware synths

Hi everone ,

I would like to know if it is possible to use the BLOKAS MIDIHUB stabdalone with my maschine plus (Standalone) with no computer on my set.

I would like to send master Clock, CC and notes.
My set is

Maschine plus (master)
Bassstation 2 (slave)
Futuretro 777 (Slave)
Dyn-sync RE-303 (Slave)

I would like to connect the NATIVE INSTRUMENT MASCHINE PLUS in USB with the BLOKAS and then configure the mapping from the maschine (standalone) directly.

I do not know if it is possible .

Maybe configure the Blokas on my mac and then unplug it when it is configure like I want but I am asking if my UMAC is not to old to can run BLOKAS EDITOR PROGRAM.

Alot of thanks in advance for the answers and tips.

Hi @Atom777, and welcome to Midihub forums

First, head over and download the Editor:

  • You don’t need a Midihub to start looking at/creating presets
  • but you won’t be able to connect to device like Maschine until you’ve got the grey box

Editor works on OS X 10.11+ (My old mac runs 10.12.6 and Editor works great)

Next, if you want Maschine to talk to MH via USB you’ll probably want MIDI Patchbay…
…but you may decide you don’t need this as you can connect Maschine directly to MH via MIDI DIN…
…which is, after all, how you’re going to use it stand-alone.

(Some users who need to use USB-only devices set themselves up on MAc/PC but use a rPi as a USB host in ‘performance’)

If Maschine had it’s own editor (I don’t know it) you’ll still be able to modify it via USB and see the differences coming into MH

Looks like your needs will be met with a few filters and maybe some Channel Remaps.
If you give the Editor a go, upload your patch here and someone will tell you whether it works or not

Have Fun!

Ok perfect , thanks foe your answer really complete !!
I download the program and start to try to program pipeline .
But One thing I do not understand … sorry for my non knowledge ;-))…

I want my maschine master send clock so…

-MASCHINE DYN OUT connect to MH INPUT A

TO

MMH OUTPUT B connect to my DYN IN of the bassstation .

And same for my two other synths ( just change the MH midi OUTPUT for example C and D …)

That is it ?
I am not sur to zxplain correctly… ;-))

But thanks for those advices …

If your Clock is coming from Maschine, this is your basic set-up

Screen Shot 2024-10-16 at 20.47.14
so all incoming messages goto 3 destinations.
(The Clock pipe is there for when you want Midihub to create the Clocks for you)

In practice, you’ll likely make extra decisions like

  • “I don’t want CCs 1-3, 17-21 going to RE-303”
  • “I only want notes in the lower 3 octaves going to BassStation”
  • etc
and so you’ll start to add Filters of various kinds

That’s where Midihub really starts to come into its own.

Check out the Tutorial series; the last episode shows the building of branching preset (best with a Midihub to Hand, though!)

PS. I see (from the little green corners) you’ve got some Mappings going on there.
Very powerful stuff but I don’t think you need them yet!

Thanks !!!

It is really helpfull !!

I will buy it for sure cause it is really huge possibilities …

Cause the option is a MIOxM (Connect by MIDI DYN on the 3 synths )

connect itself by USB to a USB HUB(cheap) then the USB HUB connect to MASCHINE USB PORT…

(MIOxM seems to make bug in MASCHINE when it is plug directly from the Maschine USB PORT)

But the BLOKAS really make a huge difference !!

I like it !!

Last questions will be …

How it will get powered if I do not use USB from maschine + …?

(Like tou say STANDALONE with just the MIDI DYN OUT of my maschine no USB…)

Will I need to have a basic USB HUB or maybe not …

Once more thanks a lot …
And I will go and tchek the tutorial series for sure !!

MH will happily work from any USB power source (Using a USB A → USB B cable)…
…like a USB charger

I find that some battery packs power down cos MH draws so little current; running say a KeyStep off the same pack solves this

You will have major fun with Midihub; once you get started you’ll find out it’s a creative tool as well as a problem solver

Go for it!

Perfect !!
I bought it this mornig in a swiss shop just one in stock !
So lucky !!

Thanks foe everything !!

Last questions if I want to receive CC from my 3 slave synths I need to have 8 midi DYN cable
1 MASTER IN/OUT AND 3 SLAVE IN/OUT
that is it ?!

Thanks for everything !!
Best regards frim Switzerland

Hey, I didn’t know Blokas sold to shops.

Very pleased for you; I’m sure you’ll find lots of creative uses once you start playing around.
The setup we talked about will need 4 MIDI cables (1 in → 3 out)

It may be that one of your “slave” machines has the capability to send MIDI back to MH, but that’s for later…

There should always be new questions!
