USB MIDI via CME H4MIDI WC?

Hi.
I have read multiple forum posts about how to get USB midi into the Midihub system, and most of them involve computer. But after some research, i found the CME H4MIDI WC which include a USB A host. Would it be possible to connect Midihub to this host? According to CME, you can use a usb hub together with CME H4MIDI WC so it could host both Midihub and other gear.

Coincidentally I have both devices. I’ll check and report back.

Oh, that would be great!! Thanks a lot! I will order the device asap if it works.

Ok, I did a very short quick test. The Blokas connects and powers up from the USB-A port on the CME H4MIDI WC. I can pass MIDI Clock through from MIDI input 1 on the CME through to the USB-A output into the Blokas MIDIHub.

What I haven’t tested is using a USB Hub with the H4MIDIWC but from reading the manual it should support up to the limit of 1A current and a powered USB Hub is advised.

I have a screenshot from the HxMIDI tool which shows that it recognises the 4 USB ports on the MIDIHub

Does that help?

Thanks! This helped a lot. Just what i was looking for. I need the four channels in an out from Midihub to CME H4MIDI WC. USB hub should work. Have seen multiple youtube videos of people doing that. Time to order the CME H4MIDI WC!! Thanks again.

HI, I am using both devices and I can confirm that they work lovely together, The pros and cons of both devices complement each other to form a very powerful tool. The down side is:
if you plug in the Midihub direct to the U4Midi you have no access to the Midihub editor. My setup is the following:
I connect my USB devices to the U4Midi and route the signals to the 5Pin Out which is connected to the Midihub where the processing and the magic happens. The U6Midi offers a lot of routing and filtering possibilities, but is far away from the mighty midihub.
With my setup I can use both Editors simaltanously which is very helpful for creating complex setups.

That’s great! Just what I was hoping for. Sounds like a good solution to route the USB devices through a din cable! Thanks a lot for the tip.

Very useful, @beatbastelbaer, thanks.

How many USB devices have you had talking through the U4Midi to MH? Any with “busy” messages like Pressure/Pitch Bend?

Hi @resonotter ,
right now I have a BeatstepPro, a Keystep 37 and a Midronome connected via USB. The clock routing to the two Arturias is inside the U4Midi, the CCs and Notes including PitchBend and Aftertouch are routed via DIN Midi to the Midihub, where the signals are distributed to different synths. To connect the USB devices I use a powered USB Hub.
My first idea was to connect the Midihub direct to reduce cabling and having more free DIN Midi in and out, but not having the Editor especially for the MidiMonitor was no option for me.
BTW there is another CME Product called U6Midi that I also own, this thing connected via USB offers 6 more DIN Midi Ports.

You, guys, need the last device to get the ultimate midi setup: RK-008 by Retrokits. It opened the whole new world of possibilities, considering you can just record midi messages, whole parts, and then process them with Blokas Midihub.
