Norns on RPi 4 + Pisound

Hi everyone,

I have a Raspberry Pi 4 (2GB) with a Blokas Pisound HAT already set up and running (Patchbox OS). I’m interested in running Norns on this hardware instead of buying the Shield, using the Pisound as the audio codec.

My setup:

  • Raspberry Pi 4B 2GB
  • Blokas Pisound (stereo audio + MIDI DIN in/out)
  • 7" DSI display (I know Norns uses OLED, happy to add one)

I found some posts from 2018 of people running Norns on RPi 3 + Pisound successfully, but nothing recent for RPi 4.

My questions:

  1. Is this still feasible in 2026 with the current Norns image?
  2. Has anyone configured Pisound as the audio device instead of the Shield codec recently?
