Pisound availability?

Is there an approximate date by which the Pisound will be available again? I’m really keen to get one and get building… Unfortunately they’re currently not even available second hand, but I’d prefer a new one anyway…

Many thanks!

At the moment we’re investigating some options for better compatibility with the Pi 5 model, once we finalize the changes and know the approximate date, we’ll let you know.

This is disappointing as I wanted to encourage people to buy the Pi 4 and Pisound combination. I have software ready to advertise but the platform is unavailable. :frowning:

The updated Pisound will be compatible with all previously compatible Pi models as well as will have better compatibility with Pi 5. We hope to have them back in stock within 2 months, quicker if everything goes really smooth.

Would very much like to showcase Pi 4 + Pisound at festivals this fall. Will keep my fingers crossed that all goes smooth.

@Giedrius can you comment on the compatibility with the pi5? Will there be an advantage to using the new PiSound with a 5?

Any idea how long the wait will be? (Foolish me, I gave away my PiSound, I need another)

What are the other options people have tried? I have a cheap USB device but I get noticeable latency, which makes it useless for me

I think Raspberry pi (official) codec zero hat is a decent option. but the hat is designed as aux level in/out, so if your project demand inst/mic level input, you need to implement its own preamp.

We expect to have v1.2 Pisounds in stock in around a month.

The difference from v1.1 will be different, slightly ‘slimmer’ Jack connectors that make it possible to fit the Pi 5 fan underneath the Pisound.

I’m getting within a week or two away from announcing Looperlative LP1 software for the Pi 4 + Pisound, but there are still no Pisounds to be had.

Well good timing, Pisound v1.2 is now in stock.

The difference since v1.1 is that the position of the audio input and output jacks shifted vertically slightly, it’s 1.64mm higher compared to the previous versions. The horizontal position and the diameter remains the same.
