This little gray box with no buttons has very quickly become the most important box in my guitar rig. it’s almost like it does nothing and yet it actually does everything conducting all the other pieces and making them work properly.
For a few years now, I’ve been on a quest to build a guitar rig that plays really nicely with tempo based effects, pulsed chopping/ gating, synced filters etc, and I’ve been looking for Waze to create sounds in that type of space that no one has created before. But I have continually run into issues with devices poorly syncing to Mindi clock especially when produced from a DAW – I think there might be some buffering occurring here. Anyway, things improved dramatically once I decided to go DAW less and put a boss RC 600 looper as the rhythmic heart of everything but still my other devices, a Kemperplayer and a source audio C4 ssynth pedal among other things, struggled to use their maximum capabilities due to sloppy sinking, etc., etc.
Using the midi hub to easily generate tap, tempo, clicks based on the mid clock, turned out to sync both of those devices perfectly and using the LFO function in the midi hub to do all kinds of fantastic things via midi with the C4 is finally getting me to the place where I can actually create the sounds that I want to create, and with relative ease.
What a box, it allows you to basically manipulate, modify, and generate almost anything mid that you can imagine. Brilliant!
