SOLVED Pisound not detected

Hi there!

My Pisound arrived and i eagerly plugged it in to find that it isn’t detected at all :frowning:

I have tried a few troubleshooting steps based on previous threads, any help would be appreciated however I fear it may be a faulty board. Is there any indication that the board is receiving power when booting as I never see any LEDs light up?

Many thanks in advance.

as below i have tried on two different Pi’s

Pisound Rev 2020 v1.1
Raspberry Pi 4b - 4gb
PSU 5V 3A

Steps tried:

  1. Re-seating the GPIO pins, gently squeezing together
  2. Fresh installation of patchbox on secondary Pi 4b with different SD card
  3. re flashing the firmware with custom avrdude returns the following errors:

avrdude: error: Unable to open SPI port /dev/spidev0.1
avrdude: error: Unable to open SPI port /dev/spidev0.1avrdude: error: AVR device not responding
avrdude: initialization failed, rc=-1
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override
this check.

Try doing:

sudo dtoverlay pisound

and then try running avrdude command again as in firmware flashing guide.

Ok so that solved the firmware flashing, it successfully completed!

However upon rebooting I can still only see the “ALSA” soundcard in jack config settings.

Try running that same command and then check the output of:

aplay -l

to see whether your Pisound is listed there.

no i believe these are just the internal:

Just to note this was solved by Giedrius remotely reflashing the EEPROM via SSH. I’ve never seen this level of support for a product before. Massive thanks.
