I am incorporating a Pisound with MODEP into a project with a sealed enclosure and would like to mount an LED to show the power status of MODEP. (Primarily so I know it is ok to unplug power when MODEP has fully shutdown.) - I am also mounting an external button connected to GPIO 17
I tried using the GPIO power pins however these stay active even when MODEP is shutdown.
I have seen you can flash the MIDI LEDs with this script, is it possible to illuminate these LEDs permanently while MODEP is booted / running? And if yes are there any pads that I could solder to that align with these LEDs?
I guess if there is no risk of corruption by just disconnecting the power then I won’t worry about it.
Hi, I don’t think it’s worth the effort to do something about it, it would also not be accurate, as when the services get stopped, the OS itself is still not done shutting down.
It’s best to look at the green flashing light on the Raspberry Pi itself. After triggering shutdown, wait for the green light to stop flashing, and wait additional 3-5 seconds, then it’s definitely safe to unplug the power. Or 10-15 seconds if you can’t see the LED.
Always unplug the power from the power outlet first, wait for the red LED on Raspberry Pi to go out before unplugging the USB cable from the connector.
If you follow these rules, there’s nearly no way SD card corruption could occur. If you go to play live shows with setups involving SD cards, it’d be a good idea to carry backup cards, that you could quickly swap in, just in case.
