Is there a way to do this? I seem to be missing it. I am thinking back to the old Yamaha TX81Z that had a drum with a filter connected to the velocity that was very expressive to play. I would like to try to apply that too… Everything!

By default, the Transform pipe is configured to do exactly that. 
Just place it where the notes are and you’ll get CC #3 with velocity values.
wow, I did not know that. Then I can transform CC3 to CC 74, for example for filters or whatever. Thanks so much for your response!
Or just change the 3 in Argument 1 to 74, so it comes out as CC #74 right from the start.
