My idea is to recreate the chord mode from something like the novation launchkey, where you can assign a chord to a pad, by pressing the pad and then various keys on the keyboard. Everytime you then press that pad, it plays the assigned notess, until you overwrite or delete them.
Is something like this even possible on the midihub?
My idea is to have a keyboard controller on midi channel 1 and a pad controller on channel 2.
If I play a pad/ a note on channel 2, and simultaneously hit several notes on the keyboard/ midi channel 1, those notes get assigned to the specific key of channel 2. Everytime you then hit that pad, it plays all the notes on midi channel 1
This sounds similar to stepped arpeggiator. I think it could be combined with a Sustain pipe in Chord mode, and another CC or Note key to produce the notes. The behavior would not be exactly as described (the way the chord is stored in memory), but hopefully something useful could come up out of it.
The impression I had of @mmol’s plan was that once the chord notes on ch1 are “learned”, hitting the “trigger” pad on ch2 would play those ch1 notes (until reassigned) until Notes Off are sent (to be decided, I guess).
