Sound being Distorted

It is hardware gain and volume, so it can’t be adjusted in software.

Could you try the original image again and see if the problem disappears?

Did you get the Clip LED to stay off?

Check the power supply. I found that my power supply had gone to supply under 4.7V and that made pisound hat distort a lot (input and output). You need one that sticks well on 5.0 or 5.1V.

I have the same issue with the USB card SSL2 and RPi4.

This sound card works perfectly well on my PC Arch-based system with Guitarix. Buffer set up to 64. Zero xruns on 64 samples!

i’ve run into this issue too now, it’s not clipping on the hardware site, red led stays off, but input gets distorted in a really harsh way. from what i’ve tested it only happens to the input signal, internally generated audio doesn’t sound like it’s being distorted.

i have one of those “officially branded” raspberry power supplies going with 5.1V and 3.0A, so i’m not really sure it could be related to power issues, but who knows. can anyone who has solved his problems this way recommend specific power supplies?

EDIT: Oh snap! I found an old samsung charger with 5.3V and 2.0A and just gave it a try, i think this really fixed the issue. Still! I’d like to know what type of power you guys use or with which you had the most stable experience.

best;;

We use these ones: https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/raspberry-pi-universal-power-supply/, though they’re all black colored instead of white. :slight_smile:

https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/type-c-power-supply/ i have a rpi4, so i was using this one (also black), maybe it was a faulty unit?

Yes, we’re using the same for Pi 4’s, we didn’t have issues with it yet though…
