Can the Midihub be used to make the Yamaha Reface CS velocity sensitive?

I’m thinking of getting a Reface CS, but have just realised it’s not velocity sensitive when played standalone.

However, weirdly it both sends and responds to velocity over midi (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFYUTidOggc)

Could I send the note and velocity data to the Midihub, then send back note data and use the velocity data to control volume and filter cutoff on the Reface CS?

So I would be using the Reface as a midi controller for itself?

Would this be too laggy to play?

So you want to map a CC knob to the note velocity values played? That would be possible, with unnoticeable latency.

edit: watched the video, you can make Midihub send scaled CCs of various parameters based on the velocities you played.

thanks! definitely seems like the midihub would be perfect for this. I’m not very experienced with midi, but I think I would be mapping velocity output data to both volume and filter.

Hey, @aevai, before you splash the cash on a Reface, is it worth pointing out that it would (probably) best respond to velocity from incoming CC messages while played monophonically or paraphonically?
(ie. playing, say, a quiet note while a loud note is still sounding wouldn’t give the expected results)

@erpel15 and @henrik have both raised topics about Reface & Midihub in the past year. If they’re still around perhaps they can confirm this.
