Hi,
I would love to power my Midihub from a Strymon Zuma powerblock for guitar and bass pedalboards. That Zuma gives 9, 12 or 18v.
Question 1 - can the Midihub take 9v too? Or can I blow it?
Question 2 - how can I take the 9v a step down to 5v, from a classic guitar board 9v barrel connector to a 5v USB connector?
Please note space is limited on the pedalboard ;( …
Midihub accepts only USB-type 5V input, providing higher voltage can brick the device.
If you don’t need USB connectivity in your pedalboard, you only need to hook up the +5V and GND wires of the cable.
I don’t know if there are ready to go solutions, but there’s definitely a big selection of voltage step down modules taking a range of input voltages (like anywhere in between 6V and 21V) and providing a stable 5V output that could be used for Midihub. Here’s one example:
You could build a custom barrel jack ↔ USB cable with this thing in the middle (isolate it properly using sufficient size heat shrink tube).
