Yes and No, respectively, AFAIK: a few years ago I spent a little time (as a python dabbler) decoding the binary files to see whether I could generate reports from them. From this I can say confirm (at least circa FW1.13) that each pipe is represented by 11bytes, within a pipeline structure with mappings and comments outwith. The pipe data refers only to the parameter settings for a given pipe so is very much editor only, not the gubbins that makes MH tick.
