Broken MidiHub Button

the button on my new midihub is almost completely pushed in and has to be really pushed hard to operate. Is that standard or is mine broken?

Hey @klheller

@Giedrius will likely advise at the earliest opportunity

In the meantime, you might want to check how easy/difficult it is to get the Button to do all the things it’s supposed to allow you to:

  • changing presets is the obvious one…
(as it hints at the foot of the explanation, normally it’s easy enough to click even when you don’t mean to)

  • …but Button Hold does something else:

Here I’ve run a cable from one of the outs back to MIDI-D-IN and then held the button down…

    Button Hold

… Device → Settings shows that Midihub is currently set to send out Reset Controller messages

Just for comparison, one of my Midihubs has a slightly more recessed button than the other.
Both are easy to distinguish between clicks and ‘hold’

Mine felt the same too. Was really hard to tell if the button was pushed or not. This was probably my only gripe with the MidiHub.

Thanks so much for the observations and suggestions. Helpful to have a point of reference with a new piece of equipment. I’love go through your suggested processes today and see how the box is functioning. Truly appreciated your quick response.

Good to know mine was not the only one with some stickiness. Thank you

…probably worth trying those different Button Hold options to get a feel of whether your unit feels usable in its current state.

FWIW, I tend to use the button very little (preferring to change presets with PCs from a controller when I’m not hooked up to a Mac) but I know many do.

Welcome to MH forums, btw!

Thanks so much for the welcome. and will use all of the suggested processes. Also good to know that the button is not critical based on other options for changing settings

Hey, could you send us a photo of how the button side of Midihub looks like?

The button is supposed to be recessed in the wall, but easily triggerrable using the pad of your finger. It should feel tactile enough for you to understand whether you’ve clicked it or not.
