Question regarding audio routing

I’m using a Pisound with a RPi 4, running Patchbox OS (Default Patchbox OS Environment) to route audio from the Pisound Audio Input to a Roland MC-101 (connected to the RPi4 via USB) and back to the Pisound Audio Output after processing the audio with the MC-101 effects.

For further clarification, here’s a simple diagram of the setup:

External Instrument > Pisound Audio In > MC-101 Audio In (Via USB) > MC-101 Audio Out (Via USB) > Pisound Audio Out

Everything works great and I can process the external instrument audio with the MC-101 effects in real time.

However, it bothers me that even if I mute the MC-101, I’ll still hear the audio coming into Pisound Audio In. What I mean is that it seems like there is some sort of direct monitoring and the Pisound outputs the Audio In directly onto the Audio Out.

Is there any way to disable this, so the Audio In of the Pisound is only routed to where I want and does not go straight to Audio Out?

Thanks in advance!

There’s no direct hardware monitor channel on Pisound - if you hear the input, there must be some software running which forwards it to the output.

What is the output of:

jack_lsp -A

Thanks for your help.

I don’t know why, but I assumed there was some sort of direct monitoring and didn’t dig any further.

The output of jack_lsp didn’t show anything suspicious, which made me realize the MC-101 was the culprit.

“Problem” solved!

By the way, I’m really enjoying exploring the Pisound. It’s simple and has a fantastic sound. Congratulations for creating this!
