Pulseaudio, keep it or remove it?

So far I’ve found that pulseaudio always created problems with music applications on linux, but it does not seem to interfere much on the Rpi. Still I wonder if I should remove it. What’s your experience with it?

I think PulseAudio is useful if you want to hear the sounds of your regular applications (like a browser) and have multiple applications playing sounds at once, because PulseAudio acts as a software mixer.

Sometimes having other apps open and PulseAudio running can interfere with audio applications that want to have exclusive access to the hardware soundcard.

If you’re going to use Pisound mostly with audio software without doing a lot of other tasks on your Raspberry Pi, then you could remove PulseAudio.

I guess I’ll remove it then. Thanks!
