Pi5 + cooler not compatible w/ pisound

so i just ordered the pisound for my pi5 w/ active cooler only to find out that they are not compatible.
i have done a little research and assumed it would work, couldn’t find anything about it in the pisound section on the blokas ws.

basically it doesn’t fit, also bought the acrylic case which is big enough but the sandwich is either crooked or the headers aren’t fully seated.

wasn’t aware of this incompatibility, do i need the cooler even?
thinking to use the pi for extra outputs for my Digitakt, perhaps run some effects and midi routing.

I have a Pi5 with active cooler, PiSound and the Blokas acrylic case. Everything fits together perfectly.

How did you come to the conclusion that they are not compatible?

if i fully insert the header it is crooked, the jack connectors are in the way of the heatsink

Is your Pisound version v1.2? You can see the number indicated on the bottom side.

What active cooler are you using?

A picture would probably help too if you can provide one.

so the header is not flush and therefore the two boards are not optimally connected, feels a bit loose.

do i need an extra header to extend it?

Use the 25mm standoffs to position the Pisound at the correct height. The headers don’t have to be flush with the plastic.

yes its 1.2
using what is i guess the “standard” Pi5 alu active cooler

okay, feels a bit loose though. how do people make the rig more rigid usually?

Use the provided screws as well  There haven’t been reports where this wouldn’t hold, and we’ve used the same 25mm height since the original v1.0 version.

got it! thanks a lot

Keep an eye on the Pisound Acrylic Case - Pisound Documentation image - note the N and E parts are of different dimensions, so make sure to place them at the correct location.

Let us know if something doesn’t fit well.
