[GUIDE] MODEP on Raspberry Pi 3 with Raspbian Lite & USB audio

I’ve been working on optimizing USB audio performance on my Raspberry Pi 3. After some trial and error, I decided to switch to Raspbian Lite. I initially tried Patchbox OS for several days, but eventually switched to Raspbian Lite, where I was finally able to achieve adequate performance without audio glitches. I documented my journey to help others facing similar challenges.

You can find the full guide here: GitHub Link. It covers everything from preparing the SD card and installing MODEP to optimizing USB audio performance, configuring JACK, and setting up a Wi-Fi hotspot for remote access. You’ll also find steps for improving system stability, adding a power button, and even setting up an activity LED.

I came across this looking for an audio over USB solution. I’m not so much interested in using MODEP but wanted to know how many USB audio devices can I connect using your script?
In theory that should also connect midi using aconnect right?
Last question: is this just for the 3b+ or woud this work with an RPI4?

I don’t have a RPI4 to test
Also no idea how many devices you can connect at once…
You can probably use some of that as a starting point, and you can ask chatgpt if you need to make some changes, it’s pretty good with RPI configs nowadays
