I’m a hobby jazz pianist, and found the digital sound of my hybrid 2006 model Yamaha YUS-5 SG silent piano lacking control, depth, and expression. Of course, it’s Yamaha’s sampling technology from the early 2000s. So I tried out the latest Pianoteq 9 modeling software on my MacBook Pro M3, and was blown away. To avoid always having to connect my computer when practicing, I bought an RPi 5 16GB and a Pisound hat to run Pianoteq with Elektrofon’s excellent Pianoberry image.
