Sysex outputs freeze pure data on patchbox os

Hey there, I’m encountering a problem sending rather large sysex outputs from puredata on patchbox os. On my macbook everything works fine; on my raspberry pi 3+ with patchbox os pure data freezes completely and I need to reboot the pi. (The message is supposed to display something on the oled display of an akai fire controller). I’m using alsa midi which works fine apart from this problem.

The pd patch is actually quite simple:

as a message box the following; connected to midiout.

Has anybody encountered the same problem and knows a solution? The cpu load actually looks fine all the time.

Cheers!

P.S.: Very excited about the pisound; ordered one just today!

Edit: The problem actually only occurs if the message is connected to midiout; I can send it around inside pd without any problem.

Hey, sending this sysex seems to work just fine on RPi4.

Patchbox OS comes with ‘amidiauto’ which automatically hooks up the ALSA MIDI connections between hardware and software MIDI ports. Maybe on your system it would make sense to change the configuration, so PD’s output is only connected to Akai Fire controller (and any other necessary devices). You can do this by customizing the amidiauto.conf.

See my comment in Midi connection manager and the linked ORAC topic inside it for details on how the config file works.

Thanks for the helpful answer, with the newest os version, which I installed today, pd is not freezing anymore. Somehow messages of this large scale still don’t come through but at least smaller ones - like 240 71 127 67 101 0 4 35 0 0 127 247 - come through and do what they should.
