Thanks. Can you comment on the latency? I see about 5ms – I was expecting somewhat less with an I2C sound solution. Is there any way of reducing it further?
Hey, yes, there are ways, the most of this latency is taken by the software that is running, rather than the hardware. So there are a couple of possible tweaks in the kernel configuration that should reduce this number. As Linux is so diverse, we don’t know what kind of kernels people will want to use with this board yet, so for now this number should be considered as the latency on ‘default Raspbian’ configuration.
As the beta goes, we will be collecting data from beta testers on what kind of latencies they achieve using which software configuration, and will be providing guides for reducing the latency.
